Cults: When Conspiracy Theories Marry Religion

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

I used to be a big believer in conspiracy theories. I believed that the new world order was run by the illuminati and that all the governments in the world were in on a plan for world domiation, enslaving humanity with the help of the UN. Yeah, it went something like that. It was ridiculous.

Recently I met a woman who opened my eyes to how ridiculous these ideas are. She’s in her mid forties, unemployed, and lives in the ghetto part of Lockport Illinois surrounded by drug dealers and gangs. Her husband works for a Sonic Drive-In where he cleans the parking lot each morning. They live there along with their two kids, three guys (aged between 18 and 20), and are soon going to be adding an additional roommate to the collection. They pay no mortgage because they claim the bank made a mistake on some paperwork and they “don’t want to be tied to anything illegal”. I wonder if they know they will get kicked out regardless. The woman, whose name I will not mention, claims to be an ordained minister of Messianic Judaism but only preaches in her home and never let’s anyone know where or how she was ordained. She says she never went to school and that Yaweh opened her eyes to understand and find hidden messages in the bible.

Enough background information. Let’s get to the cult. This woman gets members by being the cool older lady who smokes pot with the kids. She gets them high and then constantly preaches how the bible and the new world order conspiracy go together. I won’t bore you with the actual conspiracies. You can look then up online.

These ideas are very tempting. Everyone would love to believe that they are privy to secret information the rear of the world doesn’t know therefor making those believers think they are special. There is a while industry devotes to making money off of these pseudoscientific theories and religious beliefs. Some of those making money off this stuff know it’s false while others are true believers.

The only way to combat these beliefs is with simple logic. Take a step back and simplify these beliefs. Pointing out how people choose to make connections where there are none may help. Opposing opinions do not sway these believers. Only fact and logic can challenge these ridiculous theories. I could go into specific examples of how this can be done but I am feeling lazy today. If after confronting these people with logic they refuse to even consider your ideas then whomever you are talking to is beyond saving. These people have something missing in their lives and often are looking to blame something or someone outside of themeselces for their lot in life. Like I said before these ideas are tempting and appeal to something within us that make us want to believe. Most of the time those preaching the gospel of the absurd are very charismatic. This combined with the tempting ideas themselves can sucker us into believing in fantasies.

No one really knows the answers to the big questions. Don’t trust anyone who says they know. Question everything and use simple logic to make sure everything makes sense. Always research both sides of any theory or religious belief before accepting a position. Don’t be a sucker.

Ann “the Man” Coulter - Why?

Monday, January 12th, 2009

i was watching the View (a rerun I think, and don’t make fun of me for watching the View) and Ann the Man Coulter was on. This woman is no longer relevant and no one should be shocked by what she says. You should not even care. The only difference between her and any number of schizophrenic homeless guys screaming their governmental conspiracy theories at the top of their lungs on a street corner in Chicago is that she’s on TV… and still manages to look like a transvestite while doing it.

I don’t want to write too much about this woman because she doesn’t deserve to be talked about.

Before I go on, let me give you a paraphrasing of her new book:

“Liberals are whiny pussies because whenever something racist happens they complain. There is no such thing as racism and rich white people are the real victims. I have no children because I am a barren transvestite but I’ll weigh in on single mothers just so I can be provocative. Single mothers are whores or too poor to support their children or they are just bad mothers and their children will run away and commit crimes. We should all fuck the poor and ignore racism and kill the fags and wage endless war against anyone who doesn’t bow to our will and the world will be a better place.”

This is a woman who should be ignored. Its all an act. Do not be shocked and pay no attention. This woman feeds on controversy. If all of the sudden the accepted world view was her own, she would be out there shocking people by going against all that she stood for in the first place. She’s just a contrarian.

I say things to be provocative too. But its not what I say thats provocative, its how I say it: bluntly. Ann Coulter doesn’t do what she does because she believes in anything. She does it to sell books packed with statistics that are dubious at best and proven totally false at worst.

I know no one cares what she says. And I know everyone just wants her to go away. Stop talking about her, stop being shocked, and don’t watch on when she is on TV and she will be gone.

Israel is the REAL Oppressor

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Unfortunately we live in a country (The United States for you retards out there) that thinks and acts illogically more times than you’d want the world’s one super-power (at least for now) to act illogically. This lack of logic is exemplified in its stance on Israel and the multitude of conflicts they are involved in.

America is pretty much Israel’s yes-man. Their lap dog. This seems ass backwards seeing

Palestinian searches trash for food

Palestinian searches trash for food

as how we’re the world’s super-power. We should be over there negotiating agreements between the Israeli’s and Palestinians. I know now that I said this some asshole is going to leave a comment (using a fake email and some jerk-ass name because they’re afraid I’m going to spam them because they disagree with me) saying something like this:

“Uh-duh, ‘merica is negotiatin’ peas agreemen’s wit da nice Jews ‘n’ arab peoples”

(I’m sure some idiot is going to post something along those lines anyway, LOL) Well guess what imaginary commenter? We really haven’t done that in decades. What America has been calling negotiation is nothing more than being Israel’s lawyer. What began as a non-partisan mission to help both sides turned into the U.S. allowing Israel to run amock and giving Palestine a big fat “Rod Blagojevich” up the anus. Get it? Rod?

Every time there is a conflict between Israel and anyone in the Middle East America tries to play it cool and act like they have nothing to do with it. They try to look neutral and give hollow speaches about peace and the right to defend and all that crap.

Before I go on I have to say that I am not anti-semitic. Its so sad that this culture considers any opinion that doesn’t support Israel, no matter how valid it is, heresy. It really is heresy to speak out against Israel. Especially among the Born Agains and Evengelicals. Evangelicals are the worst. Evengelicals don’t support every action Israel takes because they love the people of Israel or even because they think Israel is right. They support it because these freaks are trying to bring about the rapture in the Bible’s Book of Revelations. These people are religious fanatics or extremists just like the “terrorists” they hate. Just like the “terrorists” that gives them the excuses to take away rights guaranteed in the constitution. But I digress. What I’m saying is that we need to encourage honesty and objectivity when evaluating the situation in Israel or any situation for that matter. Don’t buy into this doctrine that says you can’t speak ill of Israel or you’re commiting heresy.

America condones and encourages the outrageous actions of Israel. While the politicians in the states are making those speaches on peace and other generic crap their underlings are on the phone, writing emails, and on planes working on the real agenda. What these people are doing is condemning Israel for any “overly cruel” attacks in public while giving them the go-ahead with a nod and a wink to absolutely devastate their enemies in private. I give major props to any Arab nation that has the balls to fight Israel. Israel is the United States of the Middle East in terms of Military muscle. Since its creation Israel has been given gobs, ass loads, and heaps of weapons for their military. So far they’re the only Middle Eastern state with nukes. And I’m willing to bet they wouldn’t hesitate to use them if it weren’t for the US. Thank God we still have some control when it comes to Israel.

God promised the land we now call Israel to both the Jews and Muslims. Pretty much everyone and their mothers ruled the land at some time or another. The Jewish people were oppressed at various times by different occupiers but for the most part the Muslims allowed them to keep their religion. In fact, Islamic culture was quite progressive and not as brutal as some people would have you believe. The Jewish people and Arabs lived in peace and there was freedom of religion for everyone. (Personally, I prefer freedom from religion.)

During the late 1800’s the Zionist movement began. The Zionist movement is about returning the Jewish people to their ancestor’s homeland. That’s putting it in a nutshell. It wasn’t like they couldn’t go there, its just that a seperate Jewish state didn’t exist. Telling someone the Jews should have their own country in those days would be like saying that the Catholics (oops, bad example - they have the Vatican, which is a joke of a country) or the Orthodox, or Buddhists, or Mormons should get a country of their own. In the case of Mormons it would be like they went on national television and announced that they not only want to live in the place where their ancestors came from but rule it as well. Then they would go out and annex Utah and the US wouldn’t have Utah as a state. Personally, I wouldn’t mind that but I’m sure the US would start kicking ass in Utah to get it back under control. Think of that when you think of this whole Israel thing.

The example above is oversimplified but it helps get my point across. What’s different than in the example above is this: The Jews lobby for their own state. Then the US and the other powers of the day take land that was controlled by a sovereign nation and gave it to the Jewish people. So now the Arab nations not only hate Israel but also the United States. Who the hell was advising them when then the decision was made to annex that land? Did they not look into the history of that place. That land is not something you want to be involved with.

Back to present. Now Israel exerts control over the Palestinian territories with blockades, checkpoints and giant walls. The picture at the beginning of this post was of a Palestinian rummaging for food in the trash. This man isn’t unemployed. He most likely has a job. Its just that the price of food is high and the quantity of said food is low because of blockades and restrictions Israel has put on the Palestinians.

I don’t want to sound like I blame on side or the other. I can’t comment on that. This issue is so complex that I haven’t even scratched the surface of it. My only reason for writing this is open people up to the idea that maybe not everything Israel does is okay. Maybe Israel is using excessive force? Maybe Israel is creating its own problems by the way it treats the Palestinians. This is just one aspect of the overall issue. I am in no way an expert or even particularly knowledgeable about the subject. I only wrote about what I knew.

The most important thing to take away from this article is what I said above about being open to certain ideas. The people in this country are conditioned to think that Israel can do no wrong  and this simply isn’t true.

I hate having to say this at all let alone again but I have to because of the culture here in America: Because I disagree with the way Israel behaves does not mean I am anti-semetic or anti-Israel. Nor am I pro Palestinian. This issue is very complex and both sides have done deplorable things. It just so happens that I am writing in defense of the Palestinians because it seems no one else will.

Also, if you plan on saying something about me loving terrorists or something like that in the comments, just don’t. Instead take that wasted comment and fuck yourself with it.

Blagojevich puts Dems Between Rock and Hard Place

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

This blog has become deprecated. I will continue to add new posts for the next week. After that only partial posts will be available for one week. After that you’re going to have to stop being stubborn and move on over to the new site. All posts available here (even old and archived posts) appear on the new site: ‘to the Left of Bill: version2point1

First off, I am aware that I’ve neglected the blog and haven’t added any meaningful content for a while. So here’s the deal- you get a bonus post. Immediately following this article I’m going to post a new one.

The Democrats are really between a rock and hard place with this whole Blogojevich deal. Last week he ended up appointing Roland Burris as the new Senator to fill Obama’s empty seat. Burris isn’t the problem. In my opinion he’s actually a victim in this whole thing. Roland Burris has served in public office for a long time here in Illinois. The guy is truly respectable and doesn’t really have any marks on his record to speak of.

Roland Burris speaking at Chicago's Midway Airport

Roland Burris speaking at Chicago's Midway Airport

Mr. Burris, having been very legally appointed by Rod “he-must-have-a-huge-’Rod’-to-not-have-stepped-down” Blagojevich, went to work today. But the managers (notice I say manager and not employer-the people are the employers) turned him away. The reason for this is where the water gets kind of muddy. The governor who appointed this man may or may not be guilty of trying to sell the seat Burris is filling to the highest bidder. As soon as that news broke all of government and the news media went apeshit. The court of public opinion immediately found Blago guilty. Patrick Fitzgerald went on TV speaking in the most indignant tone telling the world that Lincoln would be rolling in his grave, saying that what the governor did was so terrible, and using truly inflated language when speaking about the charges. I think he even said that Blago was running an underground baby eating ring. Check out the press conference on YouTube and listen closely. He came out and pretty much said “My name is Patrick Fitzgerald and I am putting my name and reputation on the line because I am 100% certain that Governor Rod Blagojevich is involved in a pay to play scheme and also eats babies on the weekend”.

At that point Blago couldn’t make any appointments. Not because he was incapable of it but because of the political climate. But lo and behold our good (loyal to Bush) buddy Pat Fitzgerald came on TV about a week after the whole “Lincoln rolling in his grave” press conference and held another one. I won’t bore you with the details but I’ll give you a condensed version of what he said:

“Umm… I’m Pat and I’m holding this press conference because it turns out that Blago might not be a corrupt baby-eating cannibal after all. Umm… You see… well, we kind of need some time to get our shit together so we can frame this guy properly because we sort of did a half-ass job. Yeah… so… about that other press conference… yeah… well, I think I might have gone a little overboard but please still believe me when I say Blagojevich isn’t quite a baby-eating cannibal but he does like hang out at the University of Chicago on the weekends and pull the plugs on old people on life support. I swear. Please still hate him.”

After that my guy Blago got some wind back into his sails and appointed our good man Roland Burris. (I only say Blago is my good friend because I am truly in awe of a man who gives the metaphorical middle finger to the state’s attorney while the evidence against him is so damning. ) Blago is 100%, positively, absolutely, with no argument within his rights to appoint this man. He cannot be certified incapacitated because he isn’t sick. As long as Blagojevich is in office he can do all the things our state and federal constitution allow him to do. It doesn’t matter if he’s under investigation, it doesn’t even matter if he gets a blow job from an intern in the middle of a press conference - as long as he is still governor he can do what he wants.

Now there’s Jesse White to contend with. On a side note, I was listening to my local Air America affiliate here in Chicagoland (WCPT 820AM, 92.5FM, 92.7FM, and 99.9FM) and there was a guest on the Tom Hartman show who corrected Tom Hartman after he reffered to Jesse as a man and told him that “I think its a she, Tom” and he took her word for it. So to set things straight, Jesse White is a black man. As it turns out, the senatorial appointment needs to be certified by the Secretary of State. I’m not sure if that’s a part of the state constitution or what but them’s the rules.

This is why the “manager”, as I like to call him, of the Senate, Harry Reid (spelling?), basically booted his ass out of the Senate today.

The Republicans couldn’t be happier about this situation. No matter what the Democrats do they lose on some level. If they reject Burris then the Right can attack them for not allowing what would be the only African American into the Senate. They can also attack the Democrats for not allowing a legally appointed representative serve. In fact Sean Hannity is talking about this right now on his radio show. He’s basically saying that Harry Reid should just ignore Jesse White’s disapproval of the candidate and let him in. Apparently Sean Hannity doesn’t have any respect for our state’s constitution which is ironic considering how Republicans love to wrap themselves in to keep themselves warm. (In reality what they really do is burn the Constitution for warmth. Example: Most of the Bush Administration’s actions over the past 8 years.) If Burris is allowed to come to work then the Democrats will be attacked for allowing a guy who was appointed by corrupt governor serve.

So lets recap:

If Roland Burris is allowed to serve:

  • Democrats are corrupt by association
  • Democrats are afraid they will lose a special election

If Roland Burris isn’t allowed to serve:

  • Democrats are  racist- they won’t let even one black man into the Senate
  • Democrats don’t follow the rules- Burris was legally appointed (The rationale of Republicans on this one is basically to pretend that Jesse White doesn’t have to certify the appointment

What do I think they should do? Well I already made the point that no matter what the Democrats are going to look bad somehow. So what I would do is apply the “Band-aid Rule” - let Roland Burris serve now. Its going to make you guys look bad for a second but its better than being involved in a drawn out process that makes you look worse for longer. Just like a band-aid: You rip off quickly and it hurts for a second. You peel it off slow and it hurts just as long as you keep pulling it.

My State’s Governor (Rod Blagojevich) is a Badass

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Blagojevich proved his badassness to me today when he decided to appoint a black man to Obama’s vacant senate seat. What he basically did was put everyone trying to bring him down between a rock and a hard place. How are they going to block what could be the only african american in the senate? The can’t. Not without looking like a bunch of jackasses. His appointment, Roland Burris, a former state Attorney, is basically being used as a human shield. Of course Blagojevich tried to distance his appointment of this man from the charges against him saying:

“Please don’t allow the allegations against me to taint a good and honest man,” the governor said, turning to the smiling 71-year-old standing by his side.
“This is about Roland Burris as a U.S. senator, not about the governor who made the appointment.”

Burris was the first African-American elected to major statewide office in Illinois, serving as comptroller and running for governor three times — the last time losing to Blagojevich.

Of course he claimed he had no connection to the charges against Blagojevich, but what else would you expect him to say. I’m not going to defend Blago but I’m also not going to pre-judge him. Illinois is a really corrupt state - a fact that I’m proud of. If you read the post I wrote the day the Blagojevich story broke you’ll understand why. Chicago in particular is where pretty much all the corruption goes on. But Blagojevich was treated as a leper by all the corrupt politicians of this state because he wouldn’t play ball. He was like Rudolph except instead of a red nose he had an ethical dillema. The dilemma being that he acted ethically. Now it seems that exactly what he was fighting is what he became.

Before the announcement of Obama’s replacement all the corrupt politicians who are trying to look like they’re not corrupt by painting Blago as really corrupt (its kind of like trying to make yourself look tall by standing next to really short people all the time) were throwing hissy fits!

There’s one chink in Blago’s plan to get his appointment through by making it a racial thing. That chink is Jesse White, our Secretary of State here in Illinois. Jesse, a black man himself, said today that he won’t certify the appointment. And without Jesse White’s stamp of approval this thing ain’t happenin’. If Jesse doesn’t certify Burris no one can cry racism.

This is a pretty sad situation as Burris is an excellent choice for this seat. He ran against Blagojevich and lost some years ago. I bet he’s feeling vindicated now that all this happened to his former opponent. He could consider it a consolation prize.

Senate Democrats weren’t too enthusiastic with Rod picking Burris. They pretty much said “We don’t want that man picking a replacement because it makes us look bad” without really saying it. Their actual words were something like “We don’t want that man picking a senate replacement because its unfair to Burris and the people of Illinois”. But you know they only care about how it makes them look. Don’t buy the line about fairness. The official statement they put out said things like:

“It is truly regrettable that despite requests from all 50 Democratic senators and public officials throughout Illinois, Gov. Blagojevich would take the imprudent step of appointing someone to the United States Senate who would serve under a shadow and be plagued by questions of impropriety,”.
“Under these circumstances, anyone appointed by Gov. Blagojevich cannot be an effective representative of the people of Illinois and, as we have said, will not be seated by the Democratic caucus.”

I feel bad for Obama in all this mess. The righties are trying to paint him as Blagojevich’s best friend. Sean Hannity tries to link him to Blago on a nightly basis disregarding all facts that say otherwise and making up his own facts to support his own whacked out non-reality based world.

Excerpt from Obama’s statement:

“Roland Burris is a good man and a fine public servant, but the Senate Democrats made it clear weeks ago that they cannot accept an appointment made by a governor who is accused of selling this very Senate seat. I agree with their decision,”

Leaders in the Senate pretty much shat their pants and got on the horn post stat for a conference call. A few people involved in that call expressed concerns about how it would look if they denied a black man this Senate seat. After all, there are no black Senators now that Barack moved up in the world.

One brave soul who spoke to the media (anonymously, of course ) after the conference call said this:

“We say this without prejudice toward Roland Burris’ ability, and we respect his years of public service,”
“It is about the integrity of a governor accused of attempting to sell this United States Senate seat.”

Rep. Bobby Rush decided to be a badass like Blagojevich by daring congress to block Burris’ appointment. I think that is absolutely hilarious. The fact that everyone is trying to tip-toe around this confirmation because of a man’s skin color rubs me the wrong way. This is what Rush had to say:

“There is no rhyme or reason why he should not be seated in the U.S. Senate. I don’t think any U.S. senator … wants to go on record to deny one African-American from being seated in the U.S. Senate.”

He told reporters that Senate Democrats should not “hang and lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer.”

HAHAHA LYNCH! Get it! I love how Blagojevich set this thing up to be about race and not about him. Then Bobby Rush using the word lynch and appointee (referring to Burris) in the same sentence! I love it!

Meanwhile Blagojevich’s own lawyer said that there would be no point in the governor naming someone to the Senate because leaders there would reject his appointment.

There’s more to the story but thats the basic overview. My governor has got some pretty big balls. He definitely proved that today. I don’t know wether he’s guilty or not and frankly, I don’t care. I just love the way he made this appointment about race suddenly instead of his own corruption.

His detractors are going to try to make it about the corruption of course but what gets more play in the media? Corruption or charges of racism? I tend to go with racism.

What Makes a Racist Tick?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Obama got elected and on November 5th, 2008 all the major news organizations were flapping their jaw-holes screaming, whispering, talking flatly, uttering, pontificating, blathering, and asking the most retarded question in the history of questions; is America now a post-racial country? NO! No freaking way! Not even close. There are portions of us that are. Mainly liberals (not Democrats, but LIBERALS) and the younger generation. The younger generation being, lets see, I’d say those born between 1975 and now. But the majority of Americans and America in general are racist.

Racism is probably the hardest prejudice we will have to overcome. Even harder to overcome than the prejudice toward homosexuals. Because in America we have something called institutionalized racism. Institutional racism as the name implies is racism that is embedded into public bodies like schools or employment, banks and loan agreements, etc. It is usually very subtle in its instantiation thus no one really sees it and thinks that the “blacks” or “jews” or “gays” or “insert minority here” are just whining. Often times when you hear someone saying that a certain group is just lazy and needs to work hard and stop complaining they are talking about a situation where institutional racism is involved but they don’t see it. For example, when the Social Security Act was passed it excluded domestic and agricultural workers. Big deal right? Thats a small segment of the population right? Well who were/are those workers? They are asian, african american, and mexican primarily. Standardized testing is another example. Minorities don’t score lower because they aren’t intelligent. The tests are biased toward the white middle class. But the average person doesn’t know or doesn’t believe this and this leads to thinking that certain minorities are stupid and/or lazy. This type of racism affects health care and AIDS intervention and services in particular. Minority neighborhoods tend to get less that adequate health care and education leading to more cases of AIDS and other health problems among these groups. Back to education. School funding is tied to property taxes in their surrounding areas. Low income minority areas tend to get older edition worn out books while white middle class neighborhoods get new books. I’ve seen this myself. My high school had the latest edition books every school year. Education funding should be the same for everyone. It is absolutely unjust, not unfair but UNJUST, to give those with more money better education. Education should empower those in poverty to rise out of it but our system in the US promotes the wealthy getting everything they want and more while those who don’t have a lot of money get substandard quality in almost all aspects of public care.

I was with a family member of mine today and as we drove past a black man in the WalMart parking lot (WalMart is a piece of shit corporation too - more on that in another post) he said to me “Why do I not like negroes?” That question bothered me. Because I’ve seen this person interact with black people and befriend some of them in the business he runs. Yet he commonly calls them niggers or negroes and says some pretty derogatory things about them. Why? was the question and I wanted to answer it. I don’t really know. Maybe it was his upbringing. Maybe it was the media. Maybe it is the ignorance to institutional racism or maybe its all of the above. Whatever it is it isn’t right.

There is no reason to hate or even dislike someone based on race gender religious beliefs or sexual orientation. I am even guilty of prejudice at times. But I know why I am. I am aware of how the culture promotes racism so that isn’t it. Its my upbringing. I need to remember my own words in this post and whenever this family member says something racist I need to remember my beliefs and not let myself fall into the trap of blaming the victim.

The United States wanted to put racism behind it on November 5th, but me and others like me won’t let the US declare a false victory. Racism will be stamped out. It will unfortunately take more than a black president to put it behind us but thats okay. I’d rather see it go the right way than to have the media just push it under the rug like they tried the day after the election.

Nancy Goldfarb is a Heinous (Miserable) Bitch

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Yesterday I blogged about this woman who at one point asked me to exchange links with her. Although I strongly disagree with her I obliged because I’m not the kind of person who wants to wear blinders and not see the other side of things. I commented on an anti-gay post and was shocked to read what followed. What followed you ask? What followed was a post about my comment followed by another comment by me followed by a vicious reply. I didn’t really pay attention to what she had been writing for a while but after insulting me I kind of got pissed.

Nancy Goldfarb needs to take her head out of her ass. She claims to be a scientist while being one those bible-thumping christian conservatives. The two are incompatible. When you try to combine those two worlds you get “Intelligent Design” and ridiculous theories of that sort. Most of what Nancy writes pertains to homosexuality. Its as if she is obsessed with the subject. She reminds me of Michael Savage with her hate speech. She presumed I was gay because I was writing in defense of homosexuality. Where does she get off assuming that? And even if I were I would have no problem with it. That point didn’t offend me. Homosexuality is something completely natural. Nancy needs to comes to grips with it.

She is one of these people who supports the war in Iraq that has no end. The one started for absolutely nothing. The one started by lies about WMD’s that were never found (read: never existed), a nonexistent relationship between Saddam and Osama, and the intention to “free the Iraqi people”. In reality Bush started a war partly to avenge his dad, partly to make a lot of money, and partly out of sheer stupidity.

She’s one of these die hard stereotypical conservatives. The kind who hate gays, minorities, and poor people.

She believes that gay people are evil, unnatural, and an abomination. There’s no way I am going to build a logical argument to change her mind. She doesn’t understand logic. I just want to say that she is a hate-filled person who is on the wrong side of history. If you want to read some really warped stuff check her out. The link is here as well as in the side bar to the right of this text as it will be for as long as I run this blog.

I wish there were something I could say to enlighten this woman. I really was nice to her. But she crossed the line and I could give a shit about being civil at this point.

Check her stuff out and leave me comments on what you think.

Nancy Goldfarb Thinks (about homosexuality a little too much for a straight person)

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

If you look in my links section you’ll see a link to a blog by a woman by the name of Nancy Goldfarb. She has views that are exactly opposite of my own. But thats no reason not to read her blog. Dissenting points of view are welcome in my world. I probably won’t agree most of the time but I certainly am interested in opposing views.

I commented on one of her articles saying that homosexuality is prevalent in 5% of all populations - animal and human. This is her response.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with homosexuality. It hurts no one. Gays want the same rights every other minority has been afforded and now there is a group of people (mostly Christians unfortunately) who want to take rights away from them. The nation’s constitution as well as every state’s constitution has only afforded people rights. Never until prop 8 has a constitution actually taken rights away from a protected group. And this is being done in the name of religion and this is being done for a variety of reasons. To defend marriage. So that children won’t be confused. Because someone cherry picked passages from the bible that they interpret to mean homosexuality is… bad for lack of a better word.

If a gay couple’s marriage somehow harms your marriage then you have another problem altogether. This marriage defense is total bull. The definition of marriage has changed many times over the course of human history. It used to be acceptable to buy your wife. It was common at one time to marry many wives. Marriage itself didn’t come about until middle ages. And these days marriage is not a religious practice. Its part of the laws of the state. You can have a priest marry you live on TV during the super-bowl with millions of witnesses and it wouldn’t count. You have to file the correct papers with the state. So since this actually a legal argument its clear that gays should be afforded the right to marry. But the anti-gay movement wants to define the argument in religious terms because they get more traction that way. Don’t be fooled. As long as you have to go into city hall to get married its a legal matter. Now as far as I know the law applies to those who are gay, straight, black, or white. If gays can’t get married under the law like anyone else then no one should be able to get married. These people who rail against gay marriage are just like those in the past who were against blacks and whites (or even asians, latinos, or whomever) getting married. Its straight up prejudice and there’s no excuse for it. The religious argument against gay marriage is crap as well. Your beliefs do no give you the right to persecute a group of people. Face it. Gays cannot and will not be “cured”. They are all around you. They work with you, ride the subway with you, they are customers, employees, brothers, sisters, musicians, actors, newspaper writers, entrepreneurs. They are everywhere and you probably interact with one or more homosexuals every day without knowing.

If one were to think rationally they would come to the conclusion that homosexuality is in no way threatening to anyone or any institution. I think that those that are so passionate about taking away homosexuals’ right to marry should find out what being gay is all about. These people are fed stereotypes and then form negative opinions of homosexuality. Let me clear a few things up. I’m not gay, but I lived with a gay roommate in college and did some research.

Homosexuals are no more promiscuous as heterosexuals
Gays are not trying to indoctrinate your children
Homos generally don’t go around doing drugs and sharing needles
etc..

I don’t know what else to say except that these are people just like you and me. You wouldn’t know they were gay unless you asked.

This hatred is irrational. This idea of extending every right to every group then extend all right except the right to marry to homosexuals is irrational. Take the time to find out the truth behind the stereotypes.

I see this hate speech almost every day. Its sad. I feel so bad that people go around hating other people because they don’t understand them or simply don’t want to understand them.

Militant Atheism

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

Father Jonathan Morris is first and foremost a blathering idiot. He drools as he speaks and shits his pants while trying to make sure the world still makes sense as he listens to the voices from outside his own head. Father Jonny,( do you think he’ll mind if I call him Jonny?), is secondly a FOX News contributor. Father Jonny ended up writing a nice little article over at the FOX news blog about activist atheists rewriting history. Now I hear lots of stories on FOX that aim to promote religious views and I’ve about had it up to here (I’m pointing to my forehead). Forget what father Jon Doe said for a minute and lets (or let me) talk about why FOX promotes the religious values and why. FOX, like the right in general, want you to think in binary terms. Good or bad. Heaven or Hell. When FOX airs a story on religion it is most often not serving the purpose of building up religion but of tearing down those who aren’t religious. Worse yet, the non religious people are always liberals. But they aren’t promoting themselves as liberals- just agnostics or atheists. If you notice, the FUCKED News network will always throw in a line about them being liberal. FOX news is telling you that you are bad if you aren’t religious. And if you aren’t religious then you are a liberal. Liberal=Bad, Bad=No religion.

I’m a little dosjointed in my thinking right now but let me broaden my subject now. Hell, I’m just gonna come right out and say what I first thought when I saw Father Buttfucker’s story. Religion is a pile of shit to be flushed down the toilet of society. If you believe, fine, I won’t take that away from you. But lets stop forcing it on people. Why don’t the atheists let the nativity scenes go up. They don’t harm anyone. And I don’t mind if someone says Merry Christmas to me. I draw the line at Intelligent Design. The idea thats basically Creationism dressed up in science clothes. No way, we’re not that stupid. Take your I.D. and go design yourselves another planet to live on. Friggin dopes.

Religion is a bunch of myths. Did you know that almost every religion ever since the dawn of man had a savior born on December 25th who was born of a virgin mother and a bunch of other “coincidences” that I can’t remember.

I don’t know. This wasn’t a well thought out blog. Its just that I haven’t posted anything relevant or interesting in a while and I’ve been losing traffic to the site. Not that I get anything from web traffic, its just that I like to feel popular.
